Path of Enlightenment: The Sacred Lumbini & Kapilvastu Pilgrimage

Description: Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, transfer to your hotel, and attend an introductory evening briefing on the historical life of the Buddha and the Terai pilgrimage trail.

Take a short domestic flight south to Bhairahawa, transfer to Lumbini, and spend the afternoon exploring the Sacred Garden, Maya Devi Temple, and the Ashoka Pillar.

Spend a full day cycling or walking through the East and West Monastic Zones, admiring international Buddhist temples representing China, Thailand, Germany, and Myanmar, followed by meditation at the World Peace Pagoda.

Drive to ancient Kapilvastu (Tilaurakot), the childhood home of Prince Siddhartha where he lived before renouncing his royal life. Explore the excavated palace ruins, museum, and Kudan (Nyagrodharam), where the Buddha first met his family after enlightenment.

Journey east toward the sub-tropical river plains of Chitwan. Enjoy a peaceful late-afternoon riverside sunset walk and an evening cultural tharu dance presentation.
