Trekking Equipment Checklist
The core gear list for a multi-day Nepal trek, organized by layer and priority so you don't over-pack or under-prepare.

1. Footwear: broken-in trekking boots with ankle support, plus lightweight camp shoes for evenings at teahouses.
2. Layering system: moisture-wicking base layers, an insulating mid-layer (fleece or light down), and a waterproof/windproof outer shell.
3. Insulation for altitude: a down jacket rated for sub-zero temperatures on any route above 3,500 m, even outside winter.
4. Sleep system: a four-season sleeping bag (or a liner plus a three-season bag) for teahouses without reliable heating.
5. Health and altitude: a basic first-aid kit, any personal medication, and — on higher routes — a discussion with a doctor about altitude sickness medication before departure.
6. Extras: headlamp, trekking poles, sunglasses rated for high-altitude UV, and a reusable water bottle with a purification method.
Pack light where possible — porters have weight limits, and a lighter duffel makes every day on the trail easier.
